Chemicals group PET polymers unit sold…

Eastman PET polymers manufacturing assets in Spain and the related polyester resins business has been sold to a Spanish chemicals producer and distribution group.
Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, Tenn., USA, marketer of chemicals, fibers and plastics worldwide, and the world’s largest producer of PET polymers for packaging, announces it has entered into an agreement for the sale of Eastman Chemical Iberia, S.A., located in San Roque, Spain, to La Seda de Barcelona, S.A. The sale includes Eastman’s PET polymers manufacturing assets in Spain and the related polyester resins business. The sale is subject to competition authority approvals in Spain. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close during second quarter 2007, were not disclosed.

CPI (formerly API) Partners with UTECH for This Year’s Global Polyurethane Event
(Arlington, VA – February 26, 2007) Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council, formerly known as the Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry, will partner with UTECH this year for the global polyurethanes exhibition and conference. The event will take place on Sept. 24-26 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., and will combine the resources of the Polyurethanes Technical Conference, organized by CPI, and the UTECH North America exhibition, organized by Netherland based Industrial Promotions International (I.P.I.) and joint organizer Crain Communications.
The joint event with UTECH will mark the 50th technical conference organized by CPI and the 20th anniversary of the UTECH conferences, which began in Europe. This will be UTECH’s first exhibition in North America.
